Ol' Jack always says... what the hell.

Yes, I'm totally procrastinating on the ATL post because I'm lazy but I enjoy looking at these "happy place" photos. These were taken through an 'ol Pentax to capture the 'ol school house warm and fuzzy feel. Pics of actual quiltshop will follow because I am gonna promote the shit out of this eccentric quilt shop, pho sho.
Procrastination, as 'ol Jack would say.

Big Trouble in Little China images from here and here.

weekend

Funtimes filled with friends, food and fotos.
Shots around town to get inspirations to incorporate into perhaps some "Save the Dates" for a hometown bride and groom. Awesomely, lavendar in front of the town sign is exact shades of lavender for the wedding colors. Coinsidence? Nah, t'was meant to be =)

There Goes the Neighborhood

Remember the beautiful blackberries I ALMOST got to eat?

GONE! So are most of the leaves and tender stems. See the missing chunks on the leaves? Them's teethmarks.

I caught them in the act coming home one night. They totally didn't get my sarcasm of "Hey, help yourself jerks, not like I would like any blackberries for ANYTHING! Like home made ICE CREAM I still HAVEN'T MADE YET!"

asshats.

We kinda have an unspoken no kill policy against critters bothering us around the house. We bought fake rubber snakes to scare moles/chipmunks/voles diggin holes to trip us and denting lawnmower blades. Perhaps I should look into getting these fake deer heads to put up on the shed to scare the deers.

Well, at least the morons haven't figured out where the basil's at.

Almost ready

They look like little jewels.

Teddy's ghost

Went to Teddy Roosevelt Island and when I tried to get a closeup shot of TR, I found myself juggling three cameras. I placed the digital camera on the ledge just beneath his foot, a nice flat ledge mind you, and some how the camera flew off and landed hard on the granite floor. I was davastated since that was my only digital camera other than the phone. I guess Teddy's spirit didn't want a closeup.

On the way to batting cage after hiking, I did manage to McGirlver the digital camera to working again, whew and now have some sporty shots to add to the collection. Yes, this is as sporty as I get, taking pictures of fences and benches.

These shots were taken with the Brownie, wrapped up in a homemade cardboard box. Yeah, I heard some snickers on the Island but guess who got cooler pictures now. yeah what's up.

Birthday Hike

Here's a sneak peek at of the day which i will share as i get over a deadline.

PS. Teddy's ghost did not like my cameras apparently.

Last week kinda blew

  1. Follow up on the fans: all attempts at stenciling with spray paint have failed. Stamping and hand painting have way better effects compared to the outcome of the stenciling. Which totally sucked considering the hours I spent design, then cutting out this viney/paisley pattern on cardboard. I may yet use the pattern on something else, I just don't know what yet. I still want to experiment with different medium and techniques. Bro suggested using different types of spray paints, I think I may need paper fans. I just don't know right now.
  2. I was hit with a nasty nasty deadline last week with a lot of pieces up in air till last minute, so I didn't get to do much other than proposals last week. I was glad to have found Twitter and a friend with just as nasty deadline. It helps to stay awake to know/commiserate with someone else in same predicament. She had a line of soda/coffee in from of her monitors. Me, I had a line of chocolate covered espresso beans. Cokes are for jerks, this is how the working folks roll.

BUT

The weekend totally made up for all the pains of last week. I picked up a new/old toy. Meet my Kodak Brownie. I wanted to play around with TTV some more and found this camera for really dirt cheap price. Check out the size of the viewport, it's friggin huge! I like how it frames everything with a rounded square, it's almost very I dunno, Facebook profile image. Very Mod.

I'm still playing around with the focus/exposure of shooting one camera through another. Out of like 40 pictures I took, this was the only one that didn't come out blurry. See how it makes even the most boringest shed look happy ala Bob Ross? The possibilities are endless!!!!!

Lurves me a good wedding

(i love brides who don't cover up their ink)

I got to go to a pretty cool wedding this past Saturday. The bride and groom had a small family gathering on one of the outlooks at Great Falls. The whole event was very earthy, right down to the bride's dress and her barefeet, and groom in flipflops. The cool part was I got to play around with TTV on a day that turned out incredibly gorgeous after what felt like a week of water dumping on us.

(holy cow that kid is only 10, she's like my height already.)

Because I got a free trip into Great Falls, (oooh I also got to see Bambi the size of a chihuahua, but my camera hands weren't fast enough), i got to take more pics of just an awesome site. The rain from previous week really made Great Falls look, well, great, unlike a the calm trickle I've seen after a summer of drought. Also found was a little snake napping under the sun-warmed rocks of a retaining wall. I was able to be cool for like a minute when I made friends with two little boys who were impressed with my knowledge of snakes. (That's right, stay in school kids, you learn about that in 6th grade)

(eat your heart out Samuel L. Jackson, Snake at a Wedding!)

(Hey Trekkies, those lens flares are pho real son!)

I proudly did not shed a single tear at this wedding, probably because I was "and Guest," and wasn't personally connected with the bride and groom. There was a moment that I cam close when the bride and groom were taking off. The groom's mom started tearing up the moment the groom hugged her to say goodbye. That sucks about being a mom, when your babies say goodbye.

TTV Fun

Thanks to one of my fav daily reads RocknRoll Bride. I came across a neat photography concept called TTV (Through the Viewfinder). Luckily we have an old camera around the house so I got to play around with hooking the old camera to a digital camera. I didn't have the time to build a contraption to hold both cameras at the same time so I was double fisting two cameras around town. But look how the viewfinder frames the images so well and gives it such a retro glow. This makes the plainest subjects look artsy doesn't it?
