Family

I watched Slumdog Millionaire this weekend with mom. As sad as the movie was, it was very awesome to hear my mom reminisce about her childhood afterwards with all the parallels in the movie. Not that my mom was orphaned, but she grew up in a family of 6 kids with both parents working on multiple jobs. She hardly had parental oversight while running around entertaining herself and the younger siblings.

I guess I heard these stories before, but as I’m growing older and knowing that the Taiwan I missed is rapidly disappearing; I’ve decided to start recording these hoodlum stories down so I will not forget to pass these down.

I toyed with the idea of doing that in this blog but I think I want to keep this blog to be the crafts/brain diarrhea rather than just text so I’m starting another blog here.

Just a sneak peek, I’ve got stories on

■ My grandparents’s house was in from of a casino?!?!?!?
■ My grandpa was adopted so my last name shouldn’t even be Chen?
■ Footbinding is not so far back that great grandma had that done?

Yeah many of these stories are not just cute anecdotes but I am actually like "WTF,"caught offguard to find out weird stories about everything from chauvinism, opium addictions, supernatural events etc. I didn't make this up, i shit you not...
